Therapeutic Support

At Witham Prospect School, we understand that each person has unique emotional and social needs. Our residential care program is integrated with our therapeutic services to provide a holistic approach to our support.

We recognise that challenging behaviours can sometimes arise. Our staff are trained in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) techniques to understand the underlying causes of challenging behaviours and implement effective strategies to address them. This may include:

Developing personalised behaviour support plans: Tailored to each child and young persons’ individual needs and addressing specific challenges.

Teaching coping mechanisms: Providing strategies for managing anxiety, stress, and sensory sensitivities.

Promoting emotional regulation: Helping to understand and manage their emotions effectively.

Developing social skills: Fostering positive social interactions and building healthy relationships.

Our residential care environment is designed to be therapeutic. This may include:

Access to sensory rooms: Providing a calm and stimulating environment for sensory exploration and relaxation.

Opportunities for creative expression: Encouraging participation in art, music, and other creative activities.

Outdoor spaces: Providing access to green spaces for relaxation, exercise, and sensory experiences.

By integrating therapeutic support within our residential care program, we aim to create a nurturing and supportive environment where our children and young people can thrive emotionally, socially, and academically.
