Shining Bright: Lauren Brooks Named "Highly Commended" at the National Stars of CYP Awards!

The results are officially in, and we are absolutely over the moon! Following our exciting news about being shortlisted, the national winners and highly commended finalists for The Stars of the Children and Young People (CYP) Awards have been announced.

These prestigious awards celebrate the extraordinary individuals, teams, and organisations making a profound difference to the lives of children, young people, and families across the sector. Out of an incredibly competitive pool of nominees from across the country, our very own Lauren Brooks was awarded Highly Commended for The Superstar Support Worker Award (Midlands)!

“An Exceptional Advocate”

Lauren’s recognition at this national level comes as no surprise to anyone who knows her or has witnessed her work at Witham Prospect School. The judges themselves were deeply moved by her dedication, noting in their official feedback:

“Lauren is an exceptional advocate for young people, using both her lived experience and compassionate nature to support children to achieve their potential. Her dedication extends beyond her role, including fundraising and giving her own time to help others.”

Accompanied by her loyal hearing dog, Douglas, Lauren has spent over three years providing specialised, inclusive support for our young people with learning difficulties. Her expertise in non-verbal communication ensures that every child in her care feels completely understood, safe, and empowered to make their own choices.

A True Reflection of Our Values

At Witham Prospect School, our primary goal is to provide a nurturing, high-quality environment where our young people can thrive. Lauren embodies this mission completely. Her passion for advocacy directly supports our commitment to Individual Liberty and Mutual Respect, proving that with the right support, every child can unlock their full potential.

To be singled out and highly commended by a national judging panel is a massive achievement. It highlights not only Lauren’s individual talent and heart but also the exceptional standard of care and dedication that defines the entire Witham Prospect School team.

Thank You, Lauren!

Someone originally took the time to write a nomination because they saw how much value Lauren adds to our community. Now, the rest of the sector knows it too!

Please join all of us in giving Lauren (and Douglas!) a huge round of applause for this incredible honour. We are incredibly proud to have a national superstar on our team!
