Challenge Accomplished! Witham Prospect School Raises Funds and Fun for Children in Need
We are absolutely thrilled to share the incredible results of our BBC Children in Need ‘Challenge Yourself to 25’initiative! A massive thank you to everyone—our dedicated children, young people, staff, and generous families—who contributed to making this year’s fundraising effort a huge success.
Spotty Fun and Sensory Engagement
The week kicked off with a brilliant atmosphere, as all young people and staff came to school dressed up in yellow or spotty clothes—a perfect visual celebration for Pudsey Bear!
Our curriculum was packed with inclusive, sensory-rich activities to engage every learner and support key development goals:
- Pudsey Sensory Tray: We created a fantastic sensory area using yellow fabrics, spotty ribbons, soft bears, and buttons. This provided a tactile experience that encouraged early interaction and exploration of the key colours and textures of the day.
- Creative Fun: We enjoyed getting hands-on by dot painting Pudsey’s bandana using stamps or dabbers, and decorating spotty biscuits or cupcakes. This was a wonderful outlet for being creative.
- Learning & Kindness: We used PECS or choice boards to allow our children and young people to select outfits, crafts, or fundraising games, supporting independence. The entire week encouraged respect for other people, linking directly to our wider commitment to Equality and Inclusion.
425 Laps of Dedication!
As you know, our main physical challenge was for our children and young people to walk around the field 25 times over the course of the week.
We are delighted to announce that, across the school, our children and young people completed an astonishing 425 potential laps!
Every child and young person joined in at their own ability and pace, whether they completed the full perimeter of the field or walked laps around the courtyard. Every child and young person who took part was awarded their well-deserved Children in Need certificate for their dedication and persistence.
A very special well done must also go to the resilient staff who were out walking with our children and young people, even battling some of the “delightful” weather we had last week! Your commitment truly makes a difference.
Fantastic Fundraising Total!
Thanks to the incredible generosity of the whole Witham Prospect School community, we raised a wonderful total of £57.25 for BBC Children in Need!
Well done, Team WPS! This fantastic total will go directly towards a very good cause, helping Children in Need support disadvantaged children and young people across the UK.
Thank you again for supporting our children and young peoples’ commitment to physical development and community giving. We are already looking forward to next year’s challenge!
