Sowing Seeds of Fun: A Look at Our Summer Gardening Club
This summer, our children and young people have been blossoming in our new gardening club! Our occupational therapist has been running these informal drop-in sessions, offering a wonderful space for growth, learning, and fun.
The sessions are more than just about gardening; they’re a fantastic opportunity for our young people to develop important life skills. The activities are designed to encourage sensory-motor development and social inclusion, giving everyone a chance to work together and connect with their peers.
Our young people have been getting their hands dirty, engaging in a range of projects that tap into their creativity and problem-solving skills. Whether it’s been mixing soil, planting seeds, or creating things to help our local wildlife, every session has been packed with purpose. They have been practicing their fine motor skills, learning to follow instructions, and experiencing the satisfying feeling of creating something with their own hands.
The highlight has been seeing their enthusiasm for nature grow. They’ve learned about different plants and insects, all while enjoying the fresh air and sunshine. It’s a wonderful way for our young people to give back to the environment and see the direct results of their hard work.
