Hoppy Times at Witham Prospect School🐣
Spring has officially sprung, and at Witham Prospect School, that could only mean one thing—it was time for our annual Easter celebrations! Both our school and residential settings were filled with excitement, colour, and a fair share of chocolate as we embraced the season of new beginnings.
A Very Special Guest
The highlight of the week was undoubtedly a surprise visit from the Easter Bunny! There were smiles all around as our long-eared friend hopped through the gardens and classrooms. For our learners, this was a fantastic opportunity for social interaction and engagement. Many used their communication aids and signs to say “hello” and “thank you,” while others enjoyed the sensory experience of the bunny’s soft fur.
Egg-citing Hunts for Everyone
Because we know that everyone learns and explores differently, we didn’t just have one Easter egg hunt—we had a whole variety! We tailored our hunts to ensure everyone could join in the fun:
- The Visual Symbol Hunt: To support our cognition and communication goals, some students used checklists with symbols to find specific colored eggs hidden around the playground.
- The Great Garden Search: Our more independent learners took to the woods and gardens, working together to spot the hidden treasures tucked away in the trees.
A “Home Away from Home” Celebration
We focused on the theme of mutual respect and kindness, sharing our chocolate treats with friends and looking after our local environment during our outdoor hunts. Whether it was the thrill of finding a hidden egg or the calm of decorating a spring gift, Easter at Witham Prospect School was a wonderful reminder of the joy that comes from community and shared celebration.
